Overheard

Jill (firmly): "Stop doing that thing IMMEDIATELY."

Jack (puzzled): "I'm not doing that thing - never have. You must be mistaking me for someone else. Have you talked to Larry? He does that thing all the time."

Jill (flustered): "Maybe you're right - I'll speak with Larry. But you must admit that your type usually does that thing. So make sure you don't do that thing any more."

I'm reminded of that great line in the movie True Romance, when Christian Slater's character tells his girlfriend to stop lying to him. Her response:"I am not lying to you, and promise to never lie to you again."
